Association of Women in Mathematics
AWM is a professional organization dedicated to encouraging women to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women in STEM fields. Our goals as an organization at Auburn are to create a network of students to help each other as they continue their education or progress in their career, to celebrate the accomplishments of the female students, faculty, and staff, to learn by attending conferences and inviting speakers, and to promote women in STEM both on and off campus. As a benefit of being a member of the student chapter, you receive free membership into the professional organization.
“We are always open to new members and let the members make the organization what they want it to be. We have a buddy program that pairs undergraduate students with graduate students to help with classes, give advice, and just to hang out. We also volunteer for outreach events such as the Alabama Science Olympiad and AMP'd (Auburn Mathematical Puzzle Challenge). We attend conferences such as the annual Joint Math Meetings, Troy Mathfest and the AMS Sectional Meetings. Before COVID-19, we had social events such as going bowling or to an escape room. Those interested in joining can come to our monthly meeting April 8th at 6pm. The zoom link is below: https://auburn.zoom.us/j/82448130158
