Each person has their own special school supplies that they cannot go without, this list is not mandatory but a helpful tool to use as a place to start to stay organized and on top of your class work for the school year!
.) Planner: Having a planner will make sure that you never forget anything for your classes / day-to-day schedule! Since most professors rely on Canvas to post all assignments, a planner is nice because you can have quick access to the things you need to do if you are unable to get to Canvas at the moment.
.) Notebook(s): A couple notebooks or a multi-subject notebook is a great tool to have since some professors do not post their notes and you have to take them by hand. Oftentimes, even if a professor does post notes, it is still beneficial for students to rewrite their notes for this can help them retain the material better.
.) Pens / Pencils / Highlighters: These three are useful for note taking, organizing notes and studying. Some students find it helpful to color code notes for different chapters in a class or different information to make it easier to find the material they are looking for when studying. Plus, it’s always nice to be the friend that has an extra pen if your neighbor forgot one!
.) Sticky notes: A pack of little sticky notes are nice if you have something important to remember such as: bringing a textbook to class, an advisor meeting, a blue scantron for test etc. This will keep that information in plain sight and you’re less likely to forget.
.) Reusable water bottle: Auburn University has multiple water fountains and stations to fill up your water bottle all over campus. In Alabama, it stays hot for a long-time plus walking all over campus can easily lead to dehydration. Having your own water bottle will keep you hydrated and reduce the amount of plastic circulating in the environment. The Auburn University campus bookstore sells many water bottles with the Auburn logo and even sells Hydro Flasks.
.) Headphones: Having a pair of headphones is also something nice to have in case you are on campus doing homework and need to watch a lecture or video but are not in a location where you can play the sound through your computer. Also, you can listen to music while you study or as you walk from class to class on campus.
