DG's annual philanthropy event, Anchor Splash was held on Sunday. Anchor Splash is a swimming competition. Organizations across Auburn’s campus create teams and members of DG coach them through the process. The contest consists of swimming events such as the Best Belly Flop competition, relay race, and the beloved Synchronized swimming competition where the teams perform hilarious synchronized routines. Spectators could buy a wristband for $5 to watch these events, as well as t-shirts, which are still being sold for $15 through this link: https://www.memberplanet.com/s/deltasigma/anchorsplash18 This event supports DG's philanthropy Service for Sight, which helps the blind and visually impaired. Delta Gamma chapters across the country fund 5 schools for the blind for visually impaired children. They also help wounded military personnel because 20% of injuries from combat cause visual impairments. The ladies of Delta Gamma raised $17,655.64 and donated the money to the Delta Gamma Foundation. The Foundation then gives part of the money to the funding of the 5 schools, and some of the money to programs such as Wounded Warrior Project and other organizations that support their mission of helping visually impaired veterans.
