Alpha Xi Delta hosted their annual philanthropy event, Illuminate, on Tuesday! We asked their VP of Philanthropy, Rebecca Morris to tell us more.
"Our event was to support Autism Speaks, which is our national philanthropy! It’s basically our kickoff to our fundraising season! We have it every year and invite between 5-8 boutiques to do a trunk show in our chapter room. This year we had Raw & Rebellious, Fabrik, Therapy, Serendipity by Kei, Boho Babes Jewelry, and KDenise Jewelry. Each boutique makes between $1,000-$5,000. They then donate 10% of their earnings to our philanthropy. This year we had our biggest turnout from the Panhellenic community and had over 900 attendees!! Some of the boutiques even sold out of their merchandise that they brought, which is AMAZING! Autism Speaks uses our donations in various ways but just to name a few: Research, advocacy for this community such as lobbying on Capitol Hill and supporting the Autism Caucus, and providing resources for families to lead a successful life with kids/adults on the spectrum. This is by far our favorite event of the year because a lot of the women in the Greek community show up and it means a lot to our chapter to see their support of our philanthropy."
This week's New Member Spotlight is Molly Quinn!
