Auburn Panhellenic collects over 15,000 items in Spring 2021 for local Non-Profits in the Lee County Area
Each semester, Auburn Panhellenic organizes donation drives for various non-profit organizations in the Lee County Area. During these drives, the 18 Panhellenic sororities come together to donate items to each individual organization.
At the end of each drive, the Auburn Panhellenic Cabinet Director of Benevolence works with a representative from each non-profit organization to deliver the items and create a lasting relationship for semesters to come.
During the Spring 2021 semester, Auburn Panhellenic was able to conduct four separate donation drives for local non-profits. Without the support of the Auburn Panhellenic community and each individual chapter, we would not be able to have made the donation that we did.
In January, Auburn Panhellenic partnered with Piedmont Columbus Regional Children’s Hospital. Piedmont is a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital located in Columbus, Georgia that offers specialized pediatric care to children across 21 counties in Georgia and Alabama. Each year, Piedmont treats thousands of pediatric patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Emergency Room, and many more departments. Items from this drive supported children as they went through treatment and families as they spent time in the hospital with their children. This drive collected 2,114 items for Piedmont Columbus Regional Children’s Hospital.
In February, Auburn Panhellenic partnered with the Auburn CARES Food Pantry on campus. The Auburn University Campus Food Pantry assists members of the Auburn University student body who experience food insecurity. The pantry provides non-perishable food items to aid students who are struggling. This drive collected 2,626 items for the Auburn CARES Food Pantry on campus.
In March, Auburn Panhellenic partnered with United Way of Lee County to provide items for their annual “Stuff the Bus” drive. United Way of Lee County conducts an annual “Stuff the Bus” school supplies drive to collect school supplies for children living in Lee County. Items collected are distributed to children attending Auburn City, Lee County, and Opelika City schools whose families are unable to purchase school supplies. The “Stuff the Bus” drive will allow children in our area to begin the school year with the necessary tools they need to succeed. This drive collected 8,715 items for the United Way of Lee County.
In April, Auburn Panhellenic partnered with Our House of Auburn. Our House is a local non-profit that was founded in 2014 in Auburn, AL. It serves the families and kids of Ridgecrest Apartments, an Auburn Housing Authority community. Our House provides after-school tutoring, a healthy snack, and enrichment activities for "Our Kids," grades K-12. Their mission is to walk alongside these kids and families and help them grow academically, socially, and spiritually. This drive collected 4,150 items for Our House of Auburn.
We are proud to announce that Auburn Panhellenic collected and donated 17,605 items to local nonprofits in the Spring 2021 semester, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our community.
