In honor of 90 years of Panhellenic on Auburn University’s campus, each week Panhellenic will be spotlighting one chapter of our 18 sororities.

This week we will be featuring Zeta Tau Alpha.

The official symbols of Zeta Tau Alpha is the crown and their  colors are turquoise blue and steel grey. Their motto is “Seek the Noblest.”

Zeta Tau Alpha was chartered on Auburn’s campus in 1951.

Zeta Tau Alpha hosts multiple philanthropy events every year in the fall and spring semesters.

Gamma Rho's largest philanthropy event is Big Man on Campus, an all male beauty pageant in which each contestant represents another sorority.

In the fall, Zeta Tau Alpha hosts Cookout for a Cure with music and food outside of the Zeta Tau Alpha Chapter Room.

In October, members participate in the pink ribbon pass-out in which members of Gamma Rho stand on the concourse  and pass out pink ribbons to raise awareness for breast cancer.

In the winter and spring, the members of Gamma Rho attend a variety of Auburn athletic events and pass out pink ribbons in order to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Zeta Tau Alpha have received several national awards including: 1980 ZTA Convention,  Silver National Council Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Activities; 1996 ZTA Convention, Martha C. Edens New Chapter Award; and the 2006 ZTA Convention, Becky Hainsworth Kirwan Chapter Improvement Award.

Other Zeta Tau Alpha Awards include the Crown Chapter, for excellence in all areas of chapter membership, finances & operations. Gamma Rho earned this in 1986, 1995-1999 and 2002-2018.

Financial Excellence, for overall excellence in chapter finances in 1986, 1987, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2008 and 2017.

Scholastic Achievement awarded in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2018.

Highly Commendable GPA given in 2006.

8 alumnae of Gamma Rho have earned the Honor Ring of ZTA, the highest award in the Fraternity.

As of March 2016, there are currently  five Gamma Rho alumnae serving as Zeta Tau Alpha National Officers in various parts of the country.

Zeta Tau Alpha Gamma Rho does a survivor spotlight weekly in which a sister nominates someone close to her that has been affected by breast cancer.
