In honor of 90 years of Panhellenic on Auburn University’s campus, each week Panhellenic will be spotlighting one chapter of our 18 sororities.

This week we will be featuring Kappa Delta.

The official symbol of Sigma Kappa is the Nautilus Shell and their mascot is the Teddy Bear. Kappa Delta’s colors are olive
green and pearl white. Their motto is "Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest."

Kappa Delta was the first sorority chartered on Auburn’s campus in 1922.

Kappa Delta hosts multiple philanthropy events every year in the fall and spring semesters.

Their largest philanthropy event is our annual Shamrock 5K! 80 percent of our proceeds go directly to our local charity, Special Deliveries of Lee County, and the remaining proceeds go to our national philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America. Throughout the year we also host multiple Girl Scouts events. The Girls Scouts of America is Kappa Delta's other national philanthropy.

Another favorite Girl Scout event takes place in the Spring, where Kappa Delta’s take local troops from Auburn/Opelika to an Auburn Women's Basketball game!

The Sigma Lambda chapter of Kappa Delta has received over 27 Merit Awards. Their head CAB Advisor, Monteigne Mathison, has received the Order of the Pearl and the Order of the Emerald. National Kappa Delta presents these awards to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions.

Most recently in 2017, Sigma Lambda received the CAB Award of Excellence as well as Merit Chapter.
