Let’s face it. As much as we all love going home for the holidays, it can be tough to re-acclimate to your old life at home! It seems as if there is nothing to do to stay busy, no classwork to focus on and all of your friends from school are hundreds of miles away! But have no fear, with a little thought and a lot of spare time, the holidays are sure to be filled with fun and relaxation by doing one of these five things!
1. Have a Holiday Movie Contest
There’s nothing quite like Hallmark movies for the holidays! From classics like The Grinch to new releases like Christmas in Vienna, you are sure to find a movie that will put you in the holiday spirit!
If you’re feeling creative, make a bracket with your friends to figure out what the best holiday movie is. Pick a list of movies to watch and then have each one of your friends vote on them to figure out the perfect holiday movie.
You can chat about what you loved in each one and maybe even come up with new ideas for a movie marathon next year!
2. Make Hot Chocolate Bombs
Hot chocolate and marshmallows on a cold winter’s night hits the spot unlike anything else. If you’re bored over the holiday break, try making your very own hot chocolate bombs for your family and friends!
Try filling the hot chocolate bombs with marshmallows, candy cane pieces, and hot chocolate powder for the perfect combination of chocolate and peppermint goodness.
3. Raise Money for a Panhellenic Sorority’s Philanthropy
In a year filled with so much heartache, there’s little that can compete with warming your heart like donating to a cause in need.
This winter break, take some time to raise money or donate time to one of Auburn’s 18 Panhellenic Sorority’s philanthropies. With so many different causes to choose from, one of them is sure to tug at your heart strings and they would certainly love to have your support!
4. Find a New Friend in Your Hometown From a Different Panhellenic Sorority
Although some of your best friends from Auburn might not live in your hometown or even your home state, try to find girls in other sororities that live in your area and get to know them!
There’s never a bad time to make new friends, and with so much in common through both Auburn University and Auburn Panhellenic, you’re sure to have something to talk about!
If you decide to spend time with a new friend, be sure to social distance and wear a mask!
5. Grab Coffee With an Alumni of AU Panhellenic
While you’re home for winter break, take some time to catch up with old friends and alumni either from your sorority or from another AU Panhellenic sorority.
2019 celebrated 90 years of Auburn Panhellenic, and so many women have been a part of it!
There is so much we can learn from each other, and whether your alumni friend graduated in 1988 or 2018, it’s always so nice to catch up with a sister and friend. Be sure when you are catching up to wear a mask and social distance!
